How would I know that I am losing excessive hair or potentially have a hair loss problem?
What is the normal hair growth cycle?
Everyone is born with a fixed number of hair follicles on their scalp that produce hair throughout their lifetime. Hair grows from the base of the follicle at a rate of about one centimetre a month for about three years. The growth phase is called the anagen phase. After the anagen phase, the hair dies (catagen hair) and no longer grows. It sits dormant in the follicle for a three-month period called the telogen phase. After the telogen phase, the hair follicle undergoes another anagen phase to produce new hair that grows out of the same follicle. As it grows, the old telogen hair is dislodged or pushed out. This is a cycle that continues throughout a persons life.
What is the anagen phase?
Anagen is the active growth phase of hair follicles. The cells in the root of the hair are dividing rapidly, adding to the hair shaft. During this phase the hair grows about 1 cm every 28 days. Scalp hair stays in this active phase of growth for 2–7 years. The amount of time the hair follicle stays in the anagen phase is genetically determined. At the end of the anagen phase an unknown signal causes the follicle to go into the catagen phase.
What is the catagen phase ?
The catagen phase is a short transition stage that occurs at the end of the anagen phase. It signals the end of the active growth of a hair. This phase lasts for about 2–3 weeks while a club hair is formed.
What is the telogen phase?
The telogen phase is the resting phase of the hair follicle. The club hair is the final product of a hair follicle in the telogen stage, and is a dead, fully keratinized hair. Fifty to one-hundred club hairs are shed daily from a normal scalp.

What can I expect from a consultation?
During a consultation (which we never charge for) our hair loss consultant will show you the best Aderans option available to solve your specific hair loss requirements.
What is a hair and scalp analysis?
To identify hair loss, hair thinning, hair health and scalp conditions Aderans Hair Centre use a live video microscope whereby magnified images of the scalp, hair, and hair follicles are viewed on an in-room monitor. These images are very detailed showing you exactly what is or is not happening at scalp level (epidermis) and under the scalp (dermis). This can help to determine the cause of your specific hair loss condition and could determine the exact anomalies of the client’s scalp which restricts hair growth.
What options are offered by Aderans Hair Centre?
Depending on your level of hair loss Aderans Hair Centre can either provide you with a unique, personalised hair replacement system – bespoke wig, hairpiece, hair enhancer or designer wig – all completely undetectable, natural looking and custom-made to fit your specific individual requirements or offer specialised treatment programmes and products to strengthen hair and enhance hair growth.

Can you swim, sleep and live an active life whilst wearing a wig or hairpiece?
Yes, but we do not recommend this. Be mindful that you will considerably shorten the lifespan of your piece if you sleep or swim with it.
What does the term bespoke mean?
A bespoke piece is completely handmade, designed and created to your personal and individual requirements. From a small piece to a full wig where exact head measurements are taken, giving you the choice to choose the type of hair, colour, length, curl, texture and density.
A bespoke wig or hairpiece is an amazing alternative to real hair if design in the correct way and is extremely popular amongst those affected by long-term hair loss.
How long does it take to make a bespoke hair replacement system?
It takes approximately 10 weeks as it is bespoke made to your exact, individual and specific measurements and requirements. Alternatively, we also have semi custom-made pieces in stock that you can fit on the day of your appointment.
How much does a hair replacement system cost?
This is dependent on your own individual requirements in regards to type of hair (human hair, Cyberhair or Vhair), size of the base, colour, density, length etc. Your AHC Consultant will advise you on the best option available to you and your lifestyle ranging from an in-stock hair replacement system to a completely bespoke individualised wig or hairpiece.

What is Cyberhair?
After more than 10 years of research and development this new and advanced hair was engineered by Japanese scientists.
Cyberhair is a synthetic fibre however the texture, appearance and characteristics are very similar to human hair and it has the ability to absorb moisture. Cyberhair has many desirable qualities including durability and lightness. It is colour content and has a “style memory”. This allows hot showers and hair dryers to be used on Cyberhair without losing the original style. Be as active as you want, Cyberhair will look great!
What is V-hair?
V-hair is a revolutionary fibre, for the first time we have managed to create hair that feels, looks and behaves just like real hair without compromising on the benefits that come from fibre hair. You can wash, blow-dry and style it just like your own hair. It is durable, soft, colour resistant and easy to care for, just like fibre hair. The secret of V-hair is the unique construction of every hair, built as a perfect replica of real hair. You can swim, shower and even have a sauna – V-hair feels, looks and behaves just like real hair but it is also stronger, lighter and more heat resistant, making it more comfortable to wear.
